Iluka Resources Good News for Ceduna
Iluka Resources is expanding its satellite miningÂ
operation in the state’s west, near Ceduna. The newly discovered ilmenite, leucoxene and zircon deposits are expected to extend the forecasted 10 year operation of the Jacinth-Ambrosia mining area. The Typhoon deposit, as it is named, will be examined further to determine what all the options are.
Â
The discovery and deposit estimates were made in accordance with the Australian industry guidelines for the reporting of exploration results and was part of the brownfield exploration strategy. The deposit was also found to have low clay content making it suitable for options like the company’s rutile kilns.
Â
This discovery is of course good news for Ceduna as it will give the workers in these mines more reason to invest in the city and perhaps buy a new home there.
